Kicking-off into a howling gale, Muntly U15s made their Caledonia-Cup debut in atrocious conditions and early exchanges saw Mackie pressure repelled by solid Muntly tackling.
Despite excellent work at the breakdown, Muntly found themselves on the wrong side of the referee; after a series of infringements, Mackie exploited a mis-match in numbers to open the scoring after several quick penalties.
A rapid-fire Mackie double followed after a blind-side break from a dubiously stolen scrum, and then poor tackling direct from the re-start.
Muntly then steadied the ship and enjoyed both territory and possession, making good ground with short balls to Logie, Wilson and Gillespie before sharp handling to the left set McBain away, only to be tackled into touch just short.
Mackie, replied when a neat pre-planned move saw their full-back straighten into the line to score.
With half-time looming, Mackie registered 2 more scores; Muntly allowed Mackie in after a quick penalty and miss-move left, followed by a chip and chase to give a half-time score of 34-0.
Muntly enjoyed better territory and possession in the 2nd half; however, excellent execution by Mackie once they gained possession saw them score 3 more tries before Muntly could reply; 2 breakouts by the giant Mackie 2nd row, and a kick return extending their lead.
Never giving up, great industry from the pack saw Letch escape a maul to score, converted by Parkin.
Mackie concluded proceedings when a ripped ball was run back up the centre to give a final score of 56-7.
