 Moray produced another good performance, in their latest Tennent’s Caledonia League Division 2 North fixture, to record a comprehensive 41 points to 10 victory over Ross Sutherland at Morriston last Saturday.
The early parts of the game saw both sides testing each other’s defences out, but in the 11th minute, the home side opened the scoring.
 A defending drop-out from the 22 was gathered and run back into the 22 and set up at a ruck.
The ball was opened wide to wing Ben Grundie who spun and broke free in the tackle before making the line.
Stand-off Rory Millar added the conversion points from out wide for a 7-0 lead.
 Most of the play continued to be played in the middle of the park until the Elgin side extended their lead in the 22nd minute.
A knock-on by Ross, 8 metres from their line, handed the opportunity of an attacking scrum. The pack secured the ball and drove for the line, only to be halted a metre short.
 The ball was picked up and after three further drives for the line, wing-forward Alex Stronach managed to breach the defence and score an unconverted try for 12-0.
In the 31st minute, the Invergordon side replied. A penalty was awarded in the home 22 and after quickly taking the tap, they made the line for an unconverted try, reducing the lead to 12-5.
 Three minutes from half-time, Moray regained a 12-point lead when they scored an unconverted try.
A penalty, for a trip, on the visitors 10 metre line was dispatched to 8 metres out.
 A clean line take saw a drive set and the forwards powered over the line with No 8 David Clarke in possession to score for a half-time score of Moray 17 Ross 5.
In the 45th minute, Moray secured ball from a line on the half-way and strong running and linking play, by forwards and backs, took them into the 22 and towards the line.
 A final offload saw No 8 Clarke finish off the move for his second try of the afternoon and the bonus point try. Millar did not manage to add the extra points, leaving the score at 22-5
The home side were in control of the game and in the 64th minute, extended their lead.
 Ball was gathered on his own 10 metre line by centre Jonny Haslam and he broke into the opposition half before offloading to replacement centre Harvey Freeman.
He breached into the 22 before offloading to full-back Lachlan Jones to run the ball in for the score.
 Millar added the conversion points for 29-5.
From the restart, the Elgin side regathered and opened the ball to their backline.
 When it reached Haslam, he chipped the defence and the ball took a wicked bounce backwards into the hands of Millar who had enough pace to outstrip the defence and score in the corner.
He could not add the extras to his try, leaving the score at 34-5.
Ross scored a second unconverted try in the 73rd minute when after a period of good driving play in the 22, they tied in the home defence before spinning the ball wide to score, reducing the lead to 34-10.
 Two minutes later, Moray scored the final, their seventh, try of the afternoon.
A strong driving and offloading move up the right side of the park eventually saw Jones take the ball at pace and make good metres into the 22 before offloading to supporting back-row Steven Clark who barged his way to the line.
Millar added the conversion points for a final score of Moray 41 Ross Sutherland 10.
 Ross had won the two early encounters of the season but the Moray side had thoroughly deserved this victory having bossed the game with a good all-round team display.
Strong running play had kept them on the front foot and they finished off their opportunities well.
This Saturday, Moray are at home to 2nd place Mackie Academy FPs with a kick-off at 3pm.
