Fri 8th Mar 2019 |
A strong second half performance by Garioch overturned the Moray half-time lead and saw the Inverurie side comfortably win this Tennent's Caledonia League Division 2 North fixture by 41 points to 23.
The Elgin side kicked off and following a passage of good play in the opposition half, took a 3-0 lead in the 9th minute through an Andrew McBean penalty after Garioch were caught offside.
In the 24th minute, McBean had an opportunity from wide on the touchline on the 10 metre line and when his effort crashed back off the upright, the defence scrambled to gain the ball and clear the danger.

Moray returned to the offensive and six minutes later, another leaked penalty in the 22 allowed Rory Millar to land the kick and narrow the lead to 6-7.
The home side continued to press and on the stroke of half-time, they took the lead when McBean landed another penalty, this time after a dump tackle.

In the 67th minute, with the Elgin side on the attack, the ball was spilled and a speculative kick through bounced wildly away from the home defender and straight into the hands of the visiting wing who ran in an unconverted try for 9-34.
