MORAY 2ND XV 0 ABERDEENSHIRE 74 |
Tue 13th Feb 2018 |
Moray 2nd XV were well beaten by 74 points to nil last Saturday in their latest BT Caledonia League Division 3 North fixture against Aberdeenshire.
After an evenly matched first 10 minutes, the experienced Aberdeenshire side began to dominate the scrum and open play and put the home side on the back foot. The Moray side were not able to deal with this intense pressure and the visitors were able to run in nine tries throughout the remainder of the first half.
Moray regrouped at half-time, brought on some fresh legs and with the scrum functioning better, and with better retention of the ball, they started to influence the game more. This highlighted the great determination and resolve the squad has and although they conceded three further tries, they put the Aberdeenshire side under a lot of pressure for good periods of the half but unfortunately were not able to convert this into points.
With the demise of the Aberdeenshire 1st XV, they had come up against a side which fielded several players who have played at a higher level. This first season for the 2nds is proving to be a steep learning curve but there is commitment in the entire team to improve.
This Saturday , Moray 2nd XV are at home on league business and will have another tough fixture against league leaders Kinloss Eagles. Kick-off is 3pm.
