 Moray made the short journey to Kinloss last Saturday to play the Eagles in their latest BT Caledonia League Division 3 North fixture but suffered a heavy 94 points to 3 defeat to a very experienced side.
The Elgin side travelled with a depleted squad to take an Eagles side who are sitting proudly at the top of the league having won all five fixtures with bonus points and who would compete well in leagues above.
The game was special for Eagles prop John Martin, who has also played for Moray, as it was his 100th game in a Kinloss shirt.
 Led by their stalwart Captain Matthew Lackie, Moray introduced themselves to the Eagles by taking the first points from a penalty kick by the captain for an early 0-3 lead.
This unfortunately would be the only points that the visitor's scored as the Kinloss side took control of the game thereafter. They used their big centres to great effect at every opportunity, sucking in the defenders and creating space out wide to score tries. The Elgin side were not able to cope with this power, pace and fast hands which allowed the home side to amass the 94 points.
 However, it would not be fair to say that it was completely one-way traffic as when Moray went back to basics, they played very effective rugby and when using simple pick and go from the rucks, they were very effective in gaining ground but could not convert this to points.
Several injuries during the game made the situation more difficult when some of the more experienced players were replaced.
Moray can take positives from this game especially the fact they never let their heads go down and kept fighting to the end. Captain Lackie was an inspiration to the team and they should all be rightly proud of the effort they put into the game. The inexperienced side will learn from all these experiences which will make them stronger for the games that lie ahead.
 This Saturday, Moray 2nds are at home when they welcome Aberdeen Wanderers 2nds in the league. Kick off time is not yet confirmed but will be updated on the website at www.morayrfc.co.uk and Moray Fanzone Facebook page.
