| WINNERS ALL ROUND, AS MORAY RUGBY CLUB MICROS & MINIS GO ON THE ROAD |

 MINIS & MICROS WEEKEND REPORT – 27-28 September
The junior players at Moray Rugby Club enjoyed their first competition weekend of the season with the Micros (P1-3) taking part in the Huntly Micros Rugby Festival and the Minis (P4-7) travelling to the Ross Sutherland Minis tournament.
The Moray Micros’ three teams of girls and boys showed excellent handling & tackling skills, running in lots of tries during the day, despite some players having only taken up rugby at the start of term.
The yellow squad (Tom Christie, Brodie McMulkin, Finlay Reid, Angus Lunn, Harris Nairn, Beinn Hay, Cameron Reid and Anthony Lewis) remained unbeaten throughout the day with every member of the team scoring tries along the way.
The red & blue teams played in the second league, where Zak Nasau’s sure handling & turn of speed helped him to a number of tries.
 Cameron Reid showed great sportsmanship when he volunteered to join Banff to make up their depleted numbers in the final game of the afternoon, but perhaps the biggest winners of the day were new P1 players, Harry Elvins, Menzie Addison, Blake Robottom, Jack Stewart & Anthony Lewis, who enjoyed taking part in their first competition.
Meanwhile, at Ross Sutherland the new P4-5 team got the season off to a good start, winning two games and drawing two more, with just two losses (which were straight after a hearty lunch and included eventual tournament winners Nairn!).
With P4 being the youngest at which full tackles are allowed, the players’ determination in the tackle was the biggest plus point of the day, but they also showed excellent handling, great line keeping and well scored tries.
James Reeks was ‘Most Improved Player’ for his determination in tackling despite being one of the smallest players and Isla Burgoyne also displayed fearless and effective tackling.
‘Player of the Team’ went to Euan Lee, a really difficult decision amongst a squad which showed fantastic attitude and great team play.
 At the senior end of the squad, the P6-7s fielded two strong teams. Moray A lost a tough opening game to the home team but came back strongly in their next match with a 7-3 victory over Highland.
Tries from Ewan Willetts, Josh Britain, Ben Bradshaw and Roddy Manson capped the best display of the day.
Two tough matches after lunch ended in defeat to Nairn and Caithness but, despite the challenges, Moray A kept positive and never stopped tackling.
 Moray B started their group with a 4-1 victory over Ross Sutherland B. Tries from Tom Letch, Kieran Nasau and Ryan Allan rounded off some excellent passing, support and rucking.
A draw against Highland B was followed by a 5-0 win over Caithness which included tries by four different players as well as an outstanding try-saving tackle by Lewis Hay.
After another victory over Caithness, the final celebration was Moray winning the Positive Coaching Scotland P6/7 trophy for the best performance across all areas of rugby including teamwork, discipline and core skills; the first Moray RFC silverware of the season.
