Moray returned to Morriston following their away victory in Inverurie last weekend by hosing Aberdeen Wanderers.
Following the reverse Senior fixture which was held yesterday at Groats Road ending in a victory for Moray, the omens appeared good on this sunny Sunday but the S1/2 squad were brought back down to earth after they were defeated 11-26 by the Wanderers.
 Moray kicked off on a good pitch with the sun in the Wanderers eyes, and this early advantage paid dividends with the home team scoring an early try thanks to the consistent hard running by vice Captain and Scrum half George Hurst.
The extra point was converted by regular kicker, fly half Rory Millar.
This score seemed to galvanise the visitors, who rallied to press forward and resulted in a scoring try in the last minute of the first period which was converted, leaving the interval score at 4-4.
Both Moray and Aberdeen Wanderers were committed in the second period to strong running, with runs through midfield testing the defensive resolve of both teams.
Moray maintained a strong offensive pack in the scrum and rucks, continually testing the green shirts ability to counter ruck.
 Moray scored a further brace of tries from; front row loose head Ewan Ball and a Captain’s try from Number 8 Gregor Alexander, with Millar successful with one additional conversion.
Aberdeen replied in kind leaving the second period score at 11-11.
 Moray had committed a lot of energy in the first 40 minutes, as they faced some players who were physically larger than them, plus Wanderers had the advantage of bringing a large squad with them whereas Moray were without 30% of their squad through a variety of injuries and unavailable players, which left the hosts with only one substitute on their sideline!
This eventually told in the third period as Moray capitulated and Aberdeen took control scoring a further four tries mainly through runs down the wings, of which three were converted.
 The effort given by the red and white hoops was obvious, but their energy was gone.
The cause wasn’t helped with a shoulder injury to Alexander, which only temporarily ended his participation, plus a thigh strain to full back Daniel Cotton.
 Moray tried to regroup under Hurst, but the team’s motivation was now lacking.
Despite the result, Moray benefitted from a strong workout and will look to regroup in their next fixture on Saturday 8th March at home to Huntly, and look to gain revenge from a tight match played back in September.
