FUN AT THE FESTIVAL - NAIRN 05/05/13
Tue 7th May 2013
The Nairn Invitational is always enjoyable. Usually the last event on the fixture calendar and with rugby, tug o’ war and ‘big mouth’ passing task, the variety brings something different to a festival day.

Teams from; Caithness, Ross Sutherland, Highland, Nairn and Kinloss joined Moray for this event.

Despite losing P6/7 Player of the Year Ewan Ball, to a twisted foot at the skate park prior to the fixture, Moray was represented by a strong P6/7 side, and an amalgamated team of Moray/Kinloss at P4/5.

This was an excellent day for the P6/7s, and they all gave a tremendous effort. Amazing what a bit of sun does!

It was hard selecting a team player as you can imagine as you were all exceptional, but well done to Dylan Banfield , who was named Moray P6/7 player of the festival, for his great effort. Many thanks to Iain, Rurai & Ben for stepping up to play for Kinloss, I heard you all played well & Rurai got Player of the Team for Kinloss!!

Well done to all the lads at p4/5. A lot of decisions didn't go your way today which was very unfortunate. Your game against Highland A was probably the best game of their day, which Highland coaches agreed. An evenly contested match of junior rugby gave credit to the coaching that they have received. This was enhanced by the fact that the P4/5s represented the club very well, and this was commented upon by the catering staff. Good behaviour on and off the field!

Euan Willetts was named Moray P4/5 player of the day. He wouldn't be getting these awards if it wasn't for the team and coaches around him. Well done every one of you.

As far as the team events went, Moray wasn’t top of the heep today, that honour went to Ross Sutherland in both age groups, with Highland winning the non rugby events.

Phil got through his usual quota of games refereeing, just gaining a red head for his efforts, and many thanks from the Nairn gang, and Yvonne finally got to referee some games today, not too badly I hope, only one angry coach shouted at her today. She really enjoyed being the ‘official with the whistle’, and thoughts suggested that she might have to give up as coach and become a ref!!

This was a “Fab day” as remarked by a Parent, and we are always grateful for the large parental support which travels with the Moray Squads, so a big thank you to you as well.

Thanks again to the coaches for your commitment to the boys and girls, which is much appreciated, as always. Well done to all the players, it was an enjoyable watch today.

A most enjoyable rugby day in the lovely Nairn sunshine.
