 Moray won the Brin Cup for the second consecutive year last Saturday, when they overcame RAF Lossiemouth by 33 points to 19 in a hard fought encounter at Morriston Playing Fields.
The Lossie side kicked off and the early part of the game was very tense and disjointed and played mainly in mid field.
In the 14th minute, however, the home side took the lead. The flyers were caught offside at a scrum 5 and full-back Andrew McBean seized the opportunity and landed the points for 3-0.
This seemed to spur the Elgin side on and they pressed to increase the lead.
In the 23rd minute, they found themselves inside the opposition 22, but an attacking move came to a halt when the ball was knocked on in the backs. The visitors were quick to regain the ball and it was swiftly moved to the left wing and he ran the length of the field to score under the posts. The try was converted for a 3-7 lead.
 Eight minutes later, the home side reduced the leeway. A penalty was given for offside, 35 metres from the opposing line. McBean calmly stood up and slotted the kick for 6-7.
In the 37th minute, Moray had a golden opportunity to take a lead into the break but wing Richard Woods unfortunately knocked on the final pass with the goal line beckoning.

Three minutes into the second half, the Elgin side did retake the lead. The visitors were pinged for crossing in front of their posts and the trusty boot of McBean made it 9-7.
 The game was very much in the balance but the home side were now winning more and more ball and putting the Lossie side under pressure.
In the 54th minute, they extended the lead. A penalty was prodded to touch 10 metres from the line. Clean ball was taken at the resultant line out and the ball spun wide to replacement wing John Hester. He drove over the line but could not get the ball down. Replacement prop Eoin Martin quickly came in, ripped the ball and scored. McBean added the conversion points for 16-7.
At this point Moray were in control and six minutes later they moved further ahead. A scrum was taken against the head in the Lossie 22 and the ball moved wide to centre Cameron Hughes on the wing. He rounded the last defender and scored out wide. McBean landed the wide kick for 23-7.
In the 65th minute, McBean landed his fourth penalty of the afternoon for 26-7, when the visitors were caught offside in the middle of the pitch.
 The flyers were not down and out though and they got themselves back in the game 3 minutes later when they scored a converted try after making the line following a quick tap penalty in the home 22.
With 12 minutes to go and a score line of 26-14, it was game on again.
 From the restart, however, Moray forced a scrum on the Lossie 22. The ball was moved blind and centre Ryan Anderson broke the tackle and ran in under the posts to score. McBean added the conversion to restore the 19 point margin at 33-14.
In the 78th minute of the match, Lossie scored the final try of the afternoon through there open side wing forward. The conversion was missed leaving the final score Moray 33 RAF Lossiemouth 19.
 As always between these two sides, it had been a hard fought and physical encounter. After a very even first half, Moray came out in the second and upped their work rate and thoroughly deserved their victory.
The Brin Cup win brings the season to an end and was the icing on the cake of a hugely successful season for the Moray side who had also finished champions of RBS Caledonia League Division 2 North.
