SRU MORAY EASTER RUGBY CAMP |
Thu 19th Apr 2012 |
Moray RFC again had the honour of hosting the only SRU rugby camp outside of the central belt. This is an opportunity for players to concentrate and improve their skills over a concentrated three day period.
Players travelled from Ross Sutherland, Nairn, Huntly & Moray rugby clubs and beyond to attend the camp, with four Moray RFC Mini Coaches volunteering their time to help facilitate the camp & coach different groups, many thanks to them for their involvement.
Coaches from Aberdeen University also came to help out, and they predominately ran warm up sessions, including; baseball-rounders, football and handball and oversaw one training group.
Players were split into age groups& trained in these groups for the three days.
The weather tried to spoil the camp on day 2, with extended rain, and fortunately was only brief mid way through day three.
The camp was visited by three Glasgow Warriors players on day three, to offer encouragement, play touch rugby with each group and answer their questions, e.g. “who is the hardest team that you’ve played against”? Plus, they signed autographs and had photographs taken.
Coaches completed reports for each player on their performance during the three days, offering guidance for their future development, plus players each received SRU hats and scarves along with team posters/cards.
Many thanks to Colin and Graham for their oversight of the camp.
It is hoped that the camp will come back in the late Summer, but this is to be confirmed.
