JOINT TRAINING AT HIGHLAND 20/11/11 by Phil Kelly |
Mon 21st Nov 2011 |
After the scheduled Lochaber festival was cancelled, a hastily rearranged alternative was planned, which saw Moray P4/5 & P6/7 come together with Highland & and Ross Sutherland to training together in Inverness.
On a day which saw players away as a result of the extended weekend school holiday, Moray still produced enough players w hich could have fulfilled a fixture.
P6/7 played round robin club matches with their opponents, whilst P4/5s played in mixed sides comprising of players from each team.
After a warm up, players also played three round robin matches against their opponents, but this was alternated by focusing on two of the elements of the SRU National key themes, ball presentation and tackling.
Moray players had the opportunity of experiencing these skills coached from a different coaching perspective, which is useful.
All the players appeared to enjoiy the experience, which made the arrangements worth the effort.
Moray players finished their visit to Inverness by having their lunch, watching Moray U18s play against the Highland counterparts, and witnessed what lies instore for their future? With Under 16s also playing Highland this day, it became a real inclusive event between the clubs.
Coaches fedback that the event had been thoroughly worth while, and asking when the next one would be! Positive feedback also came from Parents, who had travelled fom Moray, which was commented upon by Highland coaches!
