ABERDEENSHIRE 2NDS 61 MORAY 2NDS 7 |
Fri 29th Sep 2017 |
Moray 2nd XV were well beaten by Aberdeenshire 2nd XV by 61 points to 7 in their latest BT Caledonia League Division 3 North fixture in Aberdeen last Saturday.
The team made the trip to the Woodside Sports Complex in good spirit and with confidence after two good wins in the league, only to come up against a very physical and experienced Shire XV who ran hard and made the most of their opportunities.
Moray points were by way of a penalty try after centre Sinclair McLeod was stopped, in the act of scoring, by an illegal neck tackle.
The Elgin side's forwards looked strong and did particularly well in the scrummage but the team will return to training to look at other aspects and in particular defensive lines and tactics. They should not be too despondent though as this is a new side with a mixture of experienced and unexperienced players and they will get much better through these experiences.
This Saturday, the Moray 2nd XV make the short trip to Kinloss to play the Eagles. This will be another difficult encounter for the Elgin side as the Kinloss Eagles are sitting top of Division 3 North having won all four games played.
