 A very close match resulted in a 7-0 victory for Highland… just before the rain came down!!
Following Moray’s match postponement from last weekend, Moray players were eagerly awaiting their away trip to Inverness.
 In what was a very close match, where Moray dominated in the scrum, which Highland coaches admitted after the match, but were unable to get enough clean ball and break the gain line , Highland’s big squad were able to keep play away from their own 22 for large periods of the match, by being strong in the midfield area, and keeping George Hurst and Josh Chapman quieter than usual, from their usual bursts from defence and midfield, and pressuring Rory Millar at scrum half after release of the ball from the scrum.
This resulted in Highland having a lot of possession of the ball in the Moray half of the pitch in the first period, and resulted in the only score of the 15 minutes coming from a Highland converted try, leaving the score 4-0.
In the second period, Highland was able to almost change their whole team, with having such a large number of substitutes.
 Despite having fresh legs, Highland’s side were put under increasingly more pressure. Moray gained access to the Highland 5 metre line on two occasions, thanks to crash ball runs from full back by Ryan Robertshaw, and they even crossed the try line once, but the try was not awarded as play was brought back for an earlier infringement. So at the end of the second period the score remained 4-0.
During the third period of the match the same play continued, but Moray tried to stick to the task in hand, led very ably by captain Alexander Gregor and with Rory Hands showing his strong play in the tight.
Two of Moray’s wingers Bruce Burgoyne and Sam Rushforth continued to show their growing confidence, despite their slight stature by sticking to their tasks and making good bursts down the side lines, but Highland managed to cap a good team performance with another try, but the windy conditions made kicking difficult and so remained unconverted, and line out throws a bit of a lottery, but Highland seemed to overcome the conditions slightly better than the visitors, so this resulted in the official match score finishing 7-0.
An extra fourth period was played, to enable Highland’s large squad to have more game time, and to improve the fitness/stamina of the Moray squad. The game continued in the same competitive style as before, but with no further additions to the score.
 The game spirit remained good, even after the match, thanks to the hospitality of Highland. It was only then that the forecasted rain came, making conditions harder for the Seniors who competed in the same fixture in this double header.
