MORAY RFC EGM, JUNE 2013 - MOTION  by Fraser Andrews
Mon 17th Jun 2013
In line with the Club Constitution point 29, I herby put forward a motion to amend point 8 of Moray RFCs Club Constitution.

The Micro/Mini Convenor to become a full member of the Club’s Executive Committee.

Proposer: Philip Kelly

Seconder: Michael Letch

Rationale:
  • The teams below the 1st XV totalled 6 during season 2012-13, (U18, U16, S1/2, P6/7, P4/5 and Micros). This would seem to be a large responsibility and workload for one individual, given; the oversight of junior leagues, friendlies and festivals. Plus separate training schedules and other miscellaneous events, e.g. socials and International match trips.
  • At the AGM 2012, Ian Davidson said the “Micro/Mini role was a separate entity” to the Youth Convenor. Given his knowledge of the club and the workload, his insight expressed clarity on the situation, and the SRU have repeatedly treated the Micro/Mini coaching/playing function as being separate from the Junior playing/coaching function, as is also proved by most other clubs in the Grampian and H&I region.
  • As a result of the 2012 AGM AOCB, the Micro/Mini Convenor was co-opted onto the Executive.
  • The Micro/Mini Convenor has submitted reports to every Executive meeting during the 2012-13 season and followed up questions at the Executive meetings, and has then fedback directly to the Micro/Mini sub-committee.
  • The Micro/Minis have year on year individually contributed into the club funds, not individually minuted in the Executive meetings by any other section of the club.
  • The Micro/Mini section of the club, represents 30% of the club membership in its own right (with Playing and Parental membership), and if the balance of the Executive is to be representative, between the 5 playing/coaching (Youth Convenor, 1st XV Coach, CCC, Director of Coaching & Club Captain), and 12 practical elements of the club, (Pres., VP, Treasurer, Mem. Sec, C/H Convenor, CPO, Press Officer, Ladies Convenor, Fixture Sec., Entertainment Convenor, 7s Convenor, Dinner Convenor), and 43% of the Club teams, the Micro/Minis do have a valid input into the Executive, even with two further co-opted Junior coaches, this still leaves the Executive imbalanced.
  • The active inclusion of the Micro/Mini Convenor led to the; development of the inaugural Club awards, closer appreciation of the Micro/Mini section of the Club, through attendance at Monthly awards and training session and P6/7 friendly match attendance and a Micro/Mini section on the Club Website.
  • At the 2013 AGM, the Executive co-opted two more ‘Junior team coaches’, maintaining a disproportionate representation of Club teams and players.
