MORAY S1/2 SHOW ABERDEEN WANDERERS A CLEAN SET OF HEELS
Wed 24th Oct 2012
An outstanding game today with excellent ball handling and some great running and support.

The opening try came after the first scrum with Moray winning against the head and quickly getting the ball down the line to Aylott on the wing. With one man to beat he had Gunn supporting on the outside who took the pass at pace. Gunn still had plenty to do but he showed a clean pair of heels to Aberdeen and ran in under the posts.

Tiddy converted and then Moray followed up quickly with another try from loose ball by Gunn.

Aberdeen fought back well and ran in 2 tries but only converted one putting Moray in the lead after the first 20min third.

The second third was a more even affair with Aberdeen starting strongly and running in 2 tries before Moray came back to inch ahead again.

Horlock suffered a back injury towards the end of the third, holding play up until medical help arrived.

To get on with the match the pitch size was reduced and the final third played from 22 to try line. This proved to be a battle of wills with both teams tired but showing great determination.

Moray scored early in the third but Aberdeen quickly responded. Aberdeen then scored again before Gunn once more ran the ball in after turn over ball was quickly recycled and Bradley drew his man and popped the ball to Gunn who ran it in from the 22.

A final try came after huge pressure from Moray 5m from the try line but some woeful waste of 4 and 5 man overlaps. Eventually the ball was taken over the line by Jack as the final whistle went.

Man of the match has to go to Gunn with 6 tries and a high work rate throughout that saw him tackling in all corners of the field.

However, it was a great team effort that won the game, with excellent support play and great commitment from all. Highly commended performances by Robertshaw and Hurst, both flankers, whose relentless pressure in defence and dogged tackling kept the Aberdeen side on the back foot.
