PADDY HART MARATHON CYCLE RIDE |
Fri 10th Aug 2012 |
One of Scottish Rugby’s former Council representatives is currently in the process of marking the end of his three year stint with the governing body by cycling round the 28 clubs which he represented in the North of the country. Paddy Hart, of Garioch Rugby Club, started the 700 mile trip in Shetland on Saturday 29 July and will complete it in Stonehaven this Saturday (11 August), in time to lend a hand at the RBS RugbyForce weekend.
In between he will take in Stornoway, Portree, Kinloss and Banff to name but a few clubs and stop offs.
He said: “The trip illustrates the challenges the clubs in the north of Scotland have to overcome week in, week out just to play rugby.
But it also represents the fellowship that those challenges create and the joy that playing rugby brings.
“I have chosen to use the trip as an opportunity to fundraise for the Murrayfield Centenary Fund. As well as a council member I have been a trustee of the fund for the last three years and have seen first hand the great work that they do.
“In that time they have also helped a number of players in the north of Scotland. This is my way of thanking them for all the help they have given those players.” To support Paddy and the Murrayfield Centenary Fund please visit http://www.justgiving.com/patrick-hart1
