FESTIVAL REPORT - ROSS SUTHERLAND, 3RD OCT 2010
Fri 8th Oct 2010
FESTIVAL REPORT - ROSS SUTHERLAND, 3RD OCT 2010A dull day greeted the players as thy arrived at Ross Sutherland, and photos were taken of P4/5 players.

Teams were entered in both groups – P4/5 Moray Reds and Moray Hoops – mixed ability teams, plus a P6/7 team, and participants into a Barbarians team!

P4/5 teams achieved a measure of success, with Hoops recording a 100% played 4 won 4 record, scoring 30 tries in the process, whilst Moray Reds played four, winning two, and the P6/7 team
Played four games, and won three.

“I have to mention the final P6/7 game against Kinloss. Coaches from several different clubs agreed that this was one of the best games they had seen at this level. Strong running, stout defence and great support play and use of the width of the pitch. It was a pleasure to see a group of players who have come up through the minis play such good rugby and with an excellent spirit, against a team they were so equally matched with. I thoroughly look forward to the rematch at Kinloss Festival on 7th November - Book your places on the touchline now!

A big thank you to all those who were keen to join in the Barbarians teams when needed; your enthusiasm meant that the smaller clubs could get some good rugby and was a great opportunity to play with people you didn't know.” – Nigel Tiddy.

By the end of the festival, sunshine had arrived, and medals were distributed to players of merit. For Moray, these were:

Fergus Nicol
Daniel Cotton
Cara Robinson
Zeki Bosani
Rowan Duncan

Congratulations to all – you deserved your medals!

Special thanks must go to;

* the volunteers extra coaches (Pete Devlin and Davie Stuart) who helped out, at short notice, and inspired P4/5 performances.
* Karen Millar for squad photos.
*The large support of parents who easily out numbered any other teams parental support!

Well done, especially to the P4 players showed a noticeable improvement on performance, and ‘blooding them’ in this way has boosted their confidence!
Not even an injury to the Highland match coach in Moray Hoops last game could deter them from victory!
