NAIRN (7) V MORAY RFC U-18’S (69) |
Thu 2nd Sep 2010 |
28 Aug 10 at 11 o’clock saw the kick off for the pre-season friendly against Nairn.
The fixture was set up at short notice due to Grodonstoun unable to fulfil the first fixture of the league. With a full squad turn out and promising training sessions under their belt, hopes were high. Having lent Nairn 6 players, Moray set about putting the planned team plays into practice with active opposition.
From the off it looked promising with the plays working well all be it a little rushed. The contest was over in 15 mins having run in several tries followed by successful conversions.
However this match was not about the result but more about getting players game time, gelling as a team with all the hard work on the training paddock coming to the fore under a pressure situation.
To make the contest more even players were swapped and different combinations looked at. The overall result was very positive with a great team spirit, strength in depth, combinations compared, and with areas to work on, prior to our next match, which is away to Highland RFC 04 Sep 10.
With a number of solid performances which could be highlighted, a special mention must go to Lewis Watson who as open side flanker covered every blade of grass in attack, support and put in 3 monster dominant tackles.
To the parents who came to support the squad and to the squad itself well done and see you back at training on Tuesday.
